# The Kolektivo Framework

**The Kolektivo Framework** is a proposed collection of institutional technologies that aim to open up new opportunities for local communities to govern and finance themselves.

The Framework combines the latest digital innovations for a new type of institution: the **community economy.** It offers a regenerative alternative to serve local communities and ecosystems underserved or harmed in the present-day.

Using the framework, communities can create and leverage new types of assets and monies based on environmental stewardship, innovation, and social impact.&#x20;

## Why Kolektivo?

Local ecosystems and communities have little or no institutional capacity to adapt to global crises, such as financial panics, biodiversity loss, and climate change. The challenges of the 21st century require new tools that help local communities be competitive and antifragile against global forces.&#x20;

Kolektivo's ultimate goal is to empower communities with the tools they need to navigate this growing era of uncertainty. To this end, [the Kolektivo Network](/kolektivo-docs/introduction/the-kolektivo-network.md), a global-local coalition of innovators, impact financiers, and local stewards, has supported and launched the first community economy on the [island of Curaçao](/kolektivo-docs/introduction/kolektivo-curacao.md) in 2023. The pilot’s learnings will be used to iterate on the framework and expand the network to additional communities all around the globe.

## Kolektivo Minimum Viable Product Scope

The Kolektivo Framework is developed in incremental releases, the first of which is called the **Kolektivo Minimum Viable Product (MVP)**. The MVP builds on years of pilot experimentation with community currencies and autonomous governance in [Curaçao](/kolektivo-docs/introduction/kolektivo-curacao.md).

Following it, Kolektivo aims to scale a network of community economies worldwide, backed by the ecological assets they create: [The Kolektivo Network](/kolektivo-docs/introduction/the-kolektivo-network.md). The table below defines the full expression of the MVP, its existing tools, and the tools to be deployed.

<table><thead><tr><th width="162.33333333333331">Release</th><th width="185">Release</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Wallet</td><td>Existing</td><td>Wallet for a medium-sized group of users primarily concentrated in Curaçao.</td></tr><tr><td>Monetary System</td><td>Existing</td><td>Management and monitoring of a locally-governed Reserve using a web interface.</td></tr><tr><td>Governance System</td><td>Future</td><td>On-chain Treasury and Reserve governance.</td></tr><tr><td>Impact Map &#x26; GeoNFT</td><td>Future</td><td>Mint GeoNFTs and upload ecological data using an Impact Map interface.</td></tr><tr><td>Ecological Tokens</td><td>Future</td><td>Mint, fractionalize, and collateralize multiple natural capital assets.</td></tr><tr><td>Additional Community Economies</td><td>Future</td><td>Launch and support additional community economies in Kolektivo's interfaces.</td></tr></tbody></table>

## Ecosystem

Kolektivo's professional ecosystem consists of R\&D entities and other partners that provide unique and diverse benefits to the Kolektivo Network, ranging from regulatory assistance to a general forum for collaboration.
